Scottsdale, Arizona --- June 30, 2008 --- IC Insights has completed a major update of its Strategic Reviews Online database of semiconductor company profiles, adding a number of Asian, European, and U.S. chip suppliers to its global listing. Among more than 220 IC companies now in the database, 45% are fabless, 41% are IDMs, 11% are pure-play foundries, and 3% are third-party IP vendors. Of companies having released annual results in the past year, 32% had semiconductor sales greater than $1 billion, 8% had sales between $500 million and $1.0 billion, 37% had sales between $100 million and $500 million, and 23% had sales less than $100 million.

The Strategic Reviews Online database has expanded to cover 14 new entries, including recent spin-offs and joint ventures, such as Numonyx—the flash-memory partnership between Intel and STMicroelectronics. Other IC suppliers recently added to the online database are: Mindspeed Technologies, NetLogic Microsystems, Sanken Electric, Diodes Incorporated, OMMIC, SiRF Technology, and several spin-off companies from SunPlus Technology in Taiwan (SunPlus mMobile, SunPlus Media, and SunPlus Innovation Technology).

The recent database entries also includes four new pure-play foundries: MHS Electronics of France, SVTC Technologies in San Jose, California, as well as Cension Semiconductor Manufacturing and Xinxin Semiconductor Manufacturing, two start-up silicon foundries in China.

Overall, these new entries to the Strategic Reviews Online database have combined annual revenues of more than $1.8 billion and employ more than 12,000 workers worldwide. They currently operate 18 wafer fabs in North America, Europe, China, and Japan.
